Dulwich Hamlet will be welcoming familiar foes to Champion Hill in the third round of the London Senior Cup (Sponsored by Coventry Scaffolding) come 6th November.
The Dockers, for whom Dulwich legend Ray “Razor” Powell is still plying his trade in attack, have crossed swords with the Hamlet a few times in recent years predominately in pre-season though notably two years ago in this very competition. Then a single goal from Gerry Gonnella decided matters in favour of the Hamlet and one could expect the Dockers to pose a single threat this time around.
Erith earned the tie with a somewhat controversial victory over phoenix club, AFC Croydon Athletic as Grant Brown scored a 120th minute winner in extra time that should never have been played. In normal time Lamarl Hubbard had given Erith a 64th minute lead which looked like being sufficient until Edward Cardona popped up two minutes into stoppage time to level. Extra time then commenced only for confusion to reign down on the pitch as referee Peter Killip brought play to a halt after just three minutes when London Football Association officials sought the rulebook for advice feeling the match should have gone straight to penalties after the conclusion of 90 minutes play. Having spoken to both benches Mr Killip deciding he had started so he would finish.
Tamar Tuna restored Erith's lead in the 96th minute, only for Cardona to bag a second equaliser six minutes later. David Nowle scored a minute after the re-start time to put the Dockers back in front for a third time, only for Alex Hyde to wipe that out as he put through his own goal after 113 minutes.
The tie looked destined for penalties when Brown popped up to grab the decisive goal and earn an away tie the trip to Champion Hill.
