London Senior Cup Draw Announced
Hamlet drawn at home to Athletic Newham in Round One.
The draw for this year's London Senior Cup has been made, with the Hamlet beginning their quest for a first title since 2004 with a home tie against opposition from Step 5 in Athletic Newham.
The Kings ply their trade in the Essex Senior Football League Premier Division, having been formed in 2015 as Lopes Tavares. Last season saw the club play at Step 5 for the first time in their history, and finished 8th out of 21 teams. They also reached the last 16 of the FA Vase, but were later removed from the competition for fielding an ineligible player. It will be the first ever meeting between the two sides.
Last season they also competed in the London Senior Cup for the first time, losing in their inaugural match away to Dartford in Round 1, with now-Hamlet man George Porter among the scorers in a 5-2 victory for the Darts.
As previously mentioned, Dulwich will have been without a title in this competition in 19 years by the time the final comes around next year, with the club's fifth success coming against Tooting & Mitcham United at Hendon in 2004, when two Omari Coleman goals sealed the trophy. We have also won the trophy in 1925, 1939, 1950 and 1984. We have also been losing finalists in 1906, 1908, 1921, 1928, 1943 and 2002.
The winners of the tie will also be at home in Round 2, and will face either Cray Wanderers or Leyton Orient. Should the Hamlet win this year's competition, they will have to play away ties in the quarter- and semi-finals, with the final venue yet to be announced.
Our clash with Athletic Newham must be played by November 5th, we will announce more details when they have been finalised.
