Vas Karagiannis marked his debut with a special goal as Dulwich progressed in the Buildbase FA Trophy with their second victory of the current month at Lowestoft.
Dulwich were quick to press their opponents back and Nyren Clunis drew a save from Josh Glover in the home goal in only the second minute, having got on the end of a Dumebi Dumaka flick.
Ibra Sekajja then shot wide with both Dumaka and Karagiannis perhaps better placed. In fact, Karagiannis was prominent in everything The Hamlet tried, as he kept Lowestoft right back Harry Barker fully employed with defensive duties.
However, it took only until the 21st minute for Karagiannis to mark his debut with a Goal of the Season contender. Seizing on a clearance he got to the touchline and, spotting the smallest of gaps at the keeper's near post blasted an inch perfect left footed effort high into the net from the tightest of angles.
Dulwich continued to push forwards but the Lowestoft defence, whilst stretched, defended resolutely. In fact, just past the half hour mark, they had a great chance to level. The ball was lost in midfield and quickly played forward to Reed, running clear behind the Dulwich defence. However, Preston Edwards advanced to narrow the angle and thwart him.
Despite plenty of possession, the closest Dulwich came to adding to their lead was when Karagiannis chased a long clearance but Barker just got in front of him to clear the danger.
Half Time 0-1
Lowestoft certainly came out fired up for the second half and attempted to put Dulwich under pressure. Despite this, it was Dulwich who had the first chance. Ibra Sekajja crossed from the right, Dumaka flicked it on and Karagiannis fired just wide.
Karagiannis was just too high with a 64th minute effort but this was a rare Dulwich effort on goal as they were being made to repel the home side more frequently.
Therefore, it came as no surprise when they levelled just a minute later. A cross from the Dulwich right was only cleared to the edge of the penalty area where Adam Smith fired a low effort past an unsighted Preston Edwards.
For a while, Dulwich looked insecure at the back and, from a cross from the Dulwich left, only poor control prevented a gilt-edged chance for the home side.
Dulwich had the next good chance in the 72nd minute when Daniel Carr broke clear on the left, but his left footed effort was comfortably saved, although had he seen Nyren Clunis in space it would have been just a tap in for him.
As Dulwich started to get back on top, Nathan Green had a powerful shot from a tight angle parried by Glover before Daniel Carr got what turned out to be the winner in the 78th minute.
Ashley Carew, who got through lots of impressive work, floated the ball into the box and Daniel Carr flicked it home with a deft header over the keeper's despairing dive.
Back came the home side and, when Carew misplaced a pass, Preston Edwards had to be out quickly to prevent a likely goal.
Finally, with the game into stoppage time, Lowestoft thought they had a lifeline. A cross from the Dulwich left was chested down and cleared by Ashley Carew. However, the Referees' Assistant indicated that he had handled it, only for the referee to overrule his decision and allow play to continue; much to the obvious annoyance of the home players.
That was to be the final meaningful action as Dulwich moved into the draw for the next round.
