More from the press
Here's what our local papers have been saying, as well as the Non League Paper:
On Tuesday the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' covered our opening Ryman League game of the season:
Samuels at the double as Dulwich start with a win
Kershaney Samuels scored twice as Dulwich Hamlet opened their season with a 3-2 victory over Harrow Borough at Champion Hill. Samuels struck twice in the first 20 minutes-the first from the edge of the box with his left foott, the second a right-footer from the left-hand side of the area- to put Dulwich in control.
Marc Charles-Smith pulled one back on 67 minutes but Laurent Hamici's first goal for Hamlet four minutes later looked to have made the points safe. But only a few minutes after that, a stunner from Spencer Bellotti made it 3-2 and set up a tense finish, in which the visitors had three good chances to equalise, but Dulwich hung on for three Ryman League Premier Division points.
Two days later the weekly 'Southwark News' was also able to mention our draw at Kingstonian on Monday:
SOLID START FOR HAMLET
Hamlet made a solid start to their Ryman Premier League campaign by picking up four points in their opening two fixtures of the season.
On Monday night Dulwich travelled to the Kingsmeadow Stadium to take on Kingstonian and took a point from a side who vied for promotion with the Pink and Blues last season.
Terell Forbes opened the scoring for the visitors on the night and it was not until well into the second half before Kingstonian's Tommy Kavanagh, who played at Champion Hill last season, netted the equaliser.
On Saturday Hamlet took all three points from their opening home fixture of the season by beating Harrow Borough by the odd goal in five.
The Pink and Blues had much the better of the first period and deserved to be ahead thanks to two goals from Kershaney Samuels.
Just past the hour mark Harrow got a foothold in the game thanks to a Marc Charles-Smith effort but just four minutes later Laurent Hamici, in his second spell at Champion Hill, restored the two goal advantage.
Borough managed once again to halve the deficit, when Spencer Bellotti netted with fifteen minutes remaining, but Dulwich held on to ensure they would take all three points.
On Friday the weekend copy of the 'South London Press' also briefly mentioned the K's game:
Encouraging start for Dulwich
Dulwich Hamlet visit Leiston tomorrow in the Ryman League Premier Division.
Gavin Rose's men have made an encouraging start to the season with their new look side, following up their opening-day 3-2 win over Harrow Borough with a 1-1 draw at league heavyweights Kingstonian on Monday.
Former Dover defender Terrell Forbes got his first goal for the club in the 38th minute, but Tommy Kavanagh, who spent last season's run-in at Champion Hill, levelled midway through the second half. Hamlet are looking to end Leiston's 100 per cent winning start.
Which we certainly did, as you can see, from this report in today's 'Non League Paper':
DEAN'S DAY AS DULWICH COAST
Dean McDonald's second-minute goal helped a well-drilled and skilful Dulwich side put pay to Leiston's early season promise with a dominant display at Victory Road.
Once the visitors took the lead they never looked back as Leiston searched for a response throughout but were unable to consistently threaten the Hamlet rearguard.
The match was less than two minutes old when McDonald cut inside Blake Saker and drilled a high shot past Leiston keeper Danny Gay.
Leiston worked hard for a response with Cliff Akurang glancing a header wide and a fine block from Ethan Pinnock denying Tom Winter.
But Hamlet looked a constant threat and in the final minute of the first half only a fine save from Gay denied Nyren Clunis a certain second goal.
Leiston continued to press but against the run of play Dulwich added a second when Ashley Carew converted a 68th-minute penalty following a foul in the box by Tom Bullard on the lively McDonald.
Phil Wilson blocked a close range Craig Parker header for the hosts as Leiston chased a way back into the game.
But the visitors could have added to their total in the final quarter with several opportunities on the counter attack.
