New Faces In First Team

New Faces In First Team

If you are watching the women's first team this month, you may spot a few new faces within the squad!

2022 was certainly a rollercoaster of a year for Ryan Dempsey and his side, with that epic FA Cup run to the Second Round, cup final heartache to Ashford Town, and a style of football that has seen crowds begin to swell consistently.

As he plans ahead to 2023, he has been busy in the last few weeks bringing in a few new faces to add some healthy competition for places within his squad. Here's an introduction to our new players.

Amy Jenkins

Amy is a goalkeeper who some Hamlet fans may have seen already in the build up to Christmas, as she was an unused substitute in the excellent win at Dartford in our final game before the winter break, and was also helping Saskia Reeves-Priestley with her warm-up routine against Fulham as well.

She may also be recognised by eagle-eyed fans as an opponent over the last couple of years. Amy has already lined up against us this season at Champion Hill for Sutton United, a game which brought our first win of the new campaign. She appeared six times for the U's at the start of the season before game time became limited. She also has fond memories of Champion Hill from last season, as she left with a clean sheet to her name as her Whyteleafe side earned a 1-0 win. She appeared more than 20 times for The Leafe during the 2021-22 season.

Olga Ocran

Signed for her creativity, Olga is an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal. She has been training with the squad for a while, but has been overcoming an injury and should finally be able to make her debut this month.

Olga has also played for a league rival of ours this season, beginning the campaign at New London Lionesses, and she scored twice on the opening day in their win against Aylesford, which remains their only league win thus far. She played twice for the Lionesses before moving on. She also comes from excellent footballing pedigree, having played for the Tottenham Hotspur Under 21s in previous seasons.

Luna Alves Etienne

A teenager who has joined the club from Step 4 outfit Hounslow, where she has made five appearances this season. Luna is another attacking player who can play through the middle or in wide areas too. She came through the youth system at our league rivals Millwall before leaving to play senior football with The Tridents this season. She should hopefully be available to make her debut in the Capital Women's Senior Cup game with Actonians on January 15th.

On behalf of everyone at the club, welcome Amy, Olga and Luna, and we hope you enjoy being part of the Pepper Army!
