Plenty of Hamlet coverage in the press today
Thursday is publication day for the 'Southwark News', 40p from all local newsagents.
They led with our injury concerns:
Pre-season leaves Rose with squad injury woes
Dulwich will go into their Ryman Premier League campaign on Saturday without four first team regulars who picked up knocks during pre-season.
Hamlet completed their high profile preparations for this campaign, that included games against four professional sides, on Tuesday when Premiership club Crystal Palace came to Champion Hill.
But although Rose was happy with his preparations it has come at a cost. He said: " We have got the lads fit and the new lads who have come in we have been working with so they understand how we play. I have been happy with the new lads and the attitude of the others who have been with us before in pre-season. We have had injuries in the shape of Nyren Clunis, Dean Lodge, Karl Beckford and Xavier Vidal and it's no good for them and no good for us. They are all unlikely to play a part on Saturday, we may get one on the bench but I would expect that to be it."
In a busy summer Rose has strengthened his squad in nearly all departments and he expects to have to use all the players at his disposal at soem point.
He told the News: "We have more depth than last year where we got by on the bare minimum sometimes, what we did last year was remarkable in that respect. We had players who played with injuries and we don't want to do that this year. We have more wingers for instance, they play an explosive type of game and it is not always good for them to play back to back games in this league."
He added: "I do think it will be more physical and as you step up you expect teams to do better, they will take more half chances, counter attack better and be better organised. But you should expect that as a lot of the clubs have been at this level for a few years."
The transfer speculation surrounding teenage midfielder Xavier Vidal, who scored the goal that clinched promotion on the last day of the season, will not go away although his injury has dampened down any chance of a move soon.
Rose said: "Xavier is injured and he will have to concentrate on getting fit before anything happens. The interest in him has been higher than we imagined or wanted, but when he is fit we will look at trials, if we need to play him and everything. Some of that will dpeend on how we start the season."
There then followed an article on the book by our fans, about our Championship season:
Fans book celebrates Championship season
A new book is on sale that tells the story of Dulwich Hamlet's magnificent championship winning 2012/13 season from a unique perspective-that of the fans.
Hamlet supporter Stephen Desmond put together a team of writers from the terraces of Champion Hill and the result is a memento of the club's historic season.
Aptly titled "The Only Way Is Up", the book is an entertaining, quirky and times hilarious view of a season that Hamlet fans will never forget.
Thr book is priced at just £6, and any profit made from the sales will be donated to the Dulwich Hamlet 12th Man campaign which partly funds player wages and purchases.
You can buy your copy at any Dulwich Hamlet home game from the 12th Man stand, or online by visiting dhfc12.blogspot.co.uk
Online sales will be sent out usually within three days of the order being placed. Postage and packing costs £3 (UK only), email
There was also a third article in the 'Southwark News' about cup draws, with special mention of the League Cup:
Derby draw for Hamlet in Cup
Hamlet will face up to old rivals Tooting and Mitcham this season despite Dulwich playing above their local foes in the non-league ladder.
Last season's promotion for the Champion Hill side meant they were promoted out of the same division as Tooting but the luck of the draw has meant the pair will meet again this campaign.
The draw for the second round of League Cup has paired the two teams together again, with the contest set to take place in East Dulwich by October 29th.
In the opening round of the London Senior Cup Hamlet have been drawn against fellow Ryman Premier League side Hendon with the game needed to be completed by October 19.
Dulwich have a home draw in the FA Cup, with the game set to be played on September 14, with either Dorking, Shoreham or Walton Casuals set to travel to south London.
In the FA Trophy Hamlet have another home draw, this time they will take on Harrow Borough.
