Hamlet head to Hertfordshire to take on recent FA Cup heroes, St Albans City, under the lights at Clarence Park.
After a dominant performance over Bath in front of a capacity crowd at Champion Hill on Saturday, Gavin Rose’s men now make the trip up the M1 to take on the story side of the FA Cup First Round, St Albans City. Upon playing three games in a week a fortnight ago Tuesday nights fixture away at Clarence Park marks the second of yet another three-game week for the Hamlet. Whilst it has also been a busy week off the pitch, with the Hamlet recently discovering their FA Trophy Second Round opponents- a trip to Brentwood Town FC on the 27th November awaits.
Dulwich managed to pick up seven points from a possible nine in that previous busy schedule, and a commanding 3-0 victory over Bath City, thanks to goals from Quade Taylor, Jordan Green, and Darren McQueen, have the Hamlet on track for a similar points haul this time around. However, the hosts will provide a much tougher test tomorrow night especially on the back of their extraordinary FA Cup First Round win over League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers.
The Saints will hope to avoid an FA Cup hangover especially with the sides last defeat coming all the way back in August, when back-to-back losses to Dorking and Dartford, provided the only times Ian Allinson’s men failed to pick up at least a point. The Hamlet will head to Clarence Park hoping to be the first side to come away with anything from Hertfordshire as City currently stand at an impressive seven game win streak in all competitions at home. Dulwich have their own impressive record on the road, however, as they remain unbeaten away this season.
The Hamlet make only their second trip to Clarence Park with their previous meeting coming back in 2019, when a first half Sam Merson penalty gave the Hertfordshire hosts a narrow 1-0 victory. Although, in their most recent meeting back at the start of the 19/20 campaign, Merson would provide the winner for the ten men of Dulwich instead, when his own goal gifted the hosts a late 2-1 win. Three points for Hamlet could see them up to second, and just a point off leaders Dartford with a game in hand, whilst the Saints could go level on points with the Darts if they are to come out victorious.
