Jones Double Downs Dulwich
Goals from Hayden Bullas and a brace from Callum Jones, saw table-toppers Dartford run out comfortable 3-0 winners as they maintained their one point lead at the top of the Isthmian Premier League table.
The opening goal came against the run of play though, we had hit the post through Luke Wanadio and were well in the game at 0-0. But, in the 23rd minute, we failed to properly clear a Samir Carruthers corner. The ball dropped to Bullas on the edge of the box, the on loan Leyton Orient midfielder was quickest to react, hemet it on the volley and his sweet strike gave Dillon Barnes no chance.
The second goal arrived just 15 minutes later and it was far too easy. Again Carruthers was involved, the ex Aston Villa player, who has 160 Football League appearances to his name, showed a touch of class, making the third man run into the box and looping a cross to the unmarked Jones, who headed home from inside the six-yard box.
The game was effectively over in the 51st minute as Jones grabbed his second of the game and 13th league goal of the season. He took one touch to control and then fired home from just inside the box
Just two seasons ago this would’ve been a National League South fixture but the two sides are heading in opposite directions, with The Hamlet sitting just one place outside of the relegation zone, albeit eight points clear of the drop and Bradley Quinton will be hoping knocks to Ryley Scott and Mark Marshall aren’t too serious.
