Shokunbi Added To Midfield
Former Welling and South Shield man joins the squad
Hakan Hayrettin has brought in his fourth midfielder of the summer with the signing of Ademola Shokunbi.
The 24-year-old spent the end of last season with South Shields, scoring once in nine league appearances as the Mariners won the Northern Premier League Premier Division title.
Ade, who came through the academy at Reading, has had plenty of National League South experience in the last few seasons, first joining Billericay Town on loan from the Royals during the 2018-19 season.
After leaving Reading in the summer of 2019, Ade spent a season in the Southern League with Beaconsfield Town, before returning to Step 2 with Welling United a year later. He would spend two seasons at Park View Road, playing a crucial role in the Wings avoiding relegation during 2021-22 with six goals in 36 appearances in the National League South.
At the beginning of last season, he moved to Gary McCann's Hampton & Richmond Borough, where he played 16 times before moving up to Tyne and Wear for the remainder of the campaign.
"When I found out there was interest from Dulwich I was very excited and couldn't wait to get the deal done and I'm happy to be here now." said Ade.
"Last season was a successful one for me on a personal note, which I wasn't expecting when I was sat out with injury at the start of the season, but to end it with a promotion was special, and now I want to do the same this year with Dulwich."
"Hak and Terry always have a well-structured team, who play as a unit with good football, and I have heard plenty of good things about them so it was a pretty straightforward decision to play for them. The energy around the place has been uplifting, positive and very exciting."
"I'm a box-to-box midfielder who will defend at one end and support attacks at the other, I'm good at carrying the ball and have added some goals to my game over the past couple of years too."
"Ade is a big strong central midfielder who I have come across in the last few years playing against us, he has a commanding presence on the pitch." said Terry Harris.
"He can win tackles and break up play, as well as play box-to-box, has got a goal or two in him as well which is always crucial from midfield, and combined with Mark Ricketts, Alfie Allen and Ryley Scott, that is a strong midfield forming."
"Ade is an excellent addition to this squad, and will compliment the rest of the team really well."
