Slough Town 3-2 Dulwich Hamlet

Slough Town 3-2 Dulwich Hamlet

Ten man Dulwich couldn't hold out despite twice taking the lead following the controversial sending off of Sanchez Ming right on half time.

It was the home side that opened the game impressively and in the opening minute Brad Wadkins came close with an effort. Dulwich really struggled to get any sort of momentum and another cross from Wadkins just evaded an onrushing colleague with only 6 minutes played.

Nothing was seen of The Hamlet as an attacking force until the 10th minute, but they should have taken the lead with their first meaningful effort. Kenny Beaney played the ball over the top towards Nyren Clunis but Sean Fraser got to the ball in front of him and attempted to head back to home keeper Jack Turner. However, he left his header short and Clunis was able to nip in but could only strike the home keeper.

Dulwich now started to keep the ball as they passed the ball well in probing for an opening. Ashley Carew had one effort wide, saw Turner hold his low shot and also had an effort from a free kick just too high, whilst Dumebi Dumaka brought a save from Turner at his near post and had an effort disallowed for offside.

However, Dulwich were to be victims of a very harsh decision right on the stroke of half time. Sanchez Ming and Matt Lench challenged for a bouncing ball near the touchline. The Dulwich man undoubtedly had his foot high wheneasily caught
Dulwich made a change at half time with Nana Boakye-Yiadom replacing Dumebi Dumaka, with the change paying almost immediate dividends. Within a minute, his back heel released Nyren Clunis who saw his shot blocked for a corner by home keeper Turner.

The corner was delivered into the penalty area by Ashley Carew and Marc Weatherstone met it with a brilliant glancing header to beat Turner and give Dulwich the lead.

Slough came back immediately and Simon Dunn should have levelled in the 51st minute. He was released through the middle but his attempt to chip the ball over Preston Edwards saw the Dulwich keeper save comfortably.

Edwards then made a fine save from a shot by Dunn and Marc Weatherstone blocked another effort from the same player. However, Dulwich were under severe pressure from a number of corners and, when one was only cleared to the edge of the penalty area, it was met with a volley that was diverted past Preston Edwards by Wadkins.

Chances were now at a premium, but Preston Edwards made a brilliant save in the 66th minute, turning over a point blank volley from Lee Togwell after he had been set up by Flood.

Dulwich were now fairly comfortable despite their numerical disadvantage and they regained the lead with 15 minutes remaining. Ashley Carew played the ball over the top to Nyren Clunis who got away from his marker and thumped a low effort past Turrner

However, once again Dulwich couldn't hold on to the lead and Slough were level just three minutes later when a cross from Dobson was brilliantly volleyed past Preston Edwards by Togwell.

Duwlich regained their composure but just after Nathan Ferguson had replaced Ashley Carew, he lost the ball to Flood and his cross was turned past Preston Edwards by Manny Williams for what turned out to be the winning goal.

Dulwich tried to respond with both Chambers and hayles pushed up front and Fal introduced from the bench. However, they were unable to create any further chances to grab the draw their efforts deserved.

Final Score 3-2
