Supporters Team to use main stadium!
As part of our charity day next Sunday, Dulwich Hamlet Football Club are allowing the Supporters Team to use the main pitch in the morning
Our friends from Wingate & Finchley supporters have been invited to have a run-out on the hallowed Champion Hill turf, after our team, affectionately known as 'The Rabblers', provided the opposition at their Harry Abrahams Stadium, on their community day last month, after our two First Team had played on it. It will be a 10.30am kick off.
Mike Bayly, from the North London club, told our official website:
“Wingate and Finchley are delighted to accept Dulwich Hamlet FC’s invitation of a return supporters’ match at their Champion Hill stadium on Sunday May 10th. For the last five years we have worked with Barnet Mencap supporting players with a range of disabilities and mental health issues, so this is a particularly poignant event. Two former members of our disability team will be taking part in this fixture in recognition of the day and its inclusivity message.”
The Supporters game is part of a 'double bill', with a Dulwich Hamlet senior side playing Peckham Town FC at 2 o'clock. The admission for that is £3 for adults, £1 concessions, with all money raised on the day being donated to our Club charity partner Cooltan Arts.
The Supporters game will be free to watch. If you would like to play in it, even if you haven't played for the team before, all Hamlet fans are welcome. It's much more about fun than ability, and the match is 'roll on, roll off' so won't be too taxing for anyone! Just email the team co-managers Shaun Dooley & Lester Ford at
All playing subs from this match will be donated directly from the Supporters Team to the official Dulwich Hamlet Football Club charity partner charity for 2015/16, which is Cooltan Arts, who work in the adult mental health sector.
The matches are specifically being staged on Sunday 10th May, to highlight Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 11th to 19th May.
The Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Team has been playing for fun since May 1989, and this is their last game on English soil before travelling to Hamburg, later this month. The team have been going on tours since 2002, and any Hamlet fans are welcome to come on the Altona trip in just under three weeks time, whether as a player, or just as a fan of the fans!
