The boy's done good...
There was an article in the official Norwich City programme recently on our former prodigy Diallang Jaiyesimi
'D.J.' was part of our Youth Team, under the wing of the Gavin Rose led ASPIRE Academy, who joined The Canaries earlier this season.
He featured in a piece under the banner of 'THE NEXT GENERATION', which was brought to our attention by one of our fans recently, and we have since managed to acquire a copy of the matchday magazine, called 'On The Ball City', that he featured in, which was against Tottenham Hotspur, in February.
Here's what they had to say:
Diallang Jaiyesimi says he is 'living the dream', having linked up with Norwich City's academy on a permanent basis last month.
The 16-year-old joined the Canaries from Dulwich Hamlet after impressing while on trial over the Christmas period, signing a two-and-ahalf-year contract.
Speaking exclusively to 'OTBC' about his first few weeks with the Club, Jaiyesimi said:
"Everyone has been very wecoming which has made it easy for me. It's a dream come true to be here, and it's still sinking in really. I've never been at an Academy before so it's a bit surreal. Before signing for Norwich I was at Dulwich Hamlet, where I made a few appearances for the first team. I was offered the chance to come on trial here and managed to do enough to be offered a contract. It just shows people are always watching you, whatever level you're at, so you've got to constantly try and impress. Having the chance to play football every day is great, so I'm really enjoying it. We have to do educational things alongside the football, but that feels pretty normal to me too. I'd been to college before I came here so it's not something I've really needed to adjust to."
The attacking midfielder's settling in process has been eased by a swift transition off the pitch, as he added:
"I'm staying with soem really good people, which has helped a lot in terms of moving away from my family. I come from a very tight-knit family so they're all excited for me that I'm here. Arinse Uade, who's relatively new here too, lives in the same digs as me and he's a great guy."
