The Germans are coming!
Keep a date in your diary for Saturday 11th July next year!
For we have an exciting pre-season match lined up, with an early evening kick off of 6.00pm, against our good friends from Hamburg, namely Altona 93!
It's the first time both sides will have met for NINETY YEARS when the Hamlet visited them as part of the Easter 1925 continental tour, our team led by the legendary Edgar Kail.
The match will be for the 'Pa Wilson Cup', which is being donated for the fixture by the 'Hamlet Historian' magazine; which by coincidence has a new edition out on sale next Saturday, at home to Witham Town.
Members of the Dulwich Hamlet Football Committee & our Supporters Trust are already making plans to organise a fund-raising group to take The Hamlet over to Germany for a three day, two game pre-season tour to Hamburg in 2018. The culmination of which will be a special 125th anniversary match to celebrate the founding of both of our clubs.
The Altona fans are working hard to raise the money for their visit, and we shall be setting up a fundraising group, to be safeguarded by the team that run our successful independent "12th Man" scheme, to collect the estimated seven to eight thousand pounds we need to take our team over there.
It's a tough task, for both sets of supporters, but everyone is quietly confident of being able to do so.
We aim to launch our fundraising early in the New Year. As the old saying goes...'watch this space'!
