The last fortnight in the press...

All the news from the printed press is copied here

Two weeks ago the 'Non League Paper', as well as the large feature on our community profile and the campaigning for our proposed new stadium, which we COVERED HERE, there was a report on the victory down at Worthing on the Sussex coast:

DIPO DELIGHT FOR DULWICH

Dulwich kept their play-off chase on track when they consigned Worthing to a fifth successive defeat.
Dipo Akinyemi scored the only goal of the game less than a minute into the second half as Hamlet secured a deserved three points.
The Rebels made a bright start and defender Jack Cook was inches wide from a free-kick, before Luois Clark had a goal ruled out for offside.
Hamlet's Ibra sekajja had an effort cleared off the line by Corey Heath before Gavin Tomlin shot wide as Dulwich had the better of the first half.
However, a clever free-kick by Lloyd Dawes just after the half-hour sent Clark through on goal, but the worthing forward fired wide.
Less than a minute after the restart the visitors took the lead when Tomlin flicked on Ashley Carew's cross to Akinyemi who fired into the bottom corner.
Kieron Thorp saved from Sekajja, who rounded the Worthing keeper in the next attack but Heath did well to recover and block his shot.
The hosts pressed for a late equaliser but captain Kane Wills headed over from six yards in stoppage time.

Midweek saw the 'South London Press' give Dipo the headline:

Akinyemi makes the difference

Dipo Akinywmi's goal earned Dulwich Hamlet a 1-0 victory at Worthing to keep their Ryman League Premier Division play-off hopes alive.
Ashley Carew crossed from the left seconds after the break and Gavin Tomlin put it into the path of Akinyemi who fired home.
The win means Gavin Rose's side are six points behind fifth-placed Wingate & Finchley but have four games in hand.
Dulwich's league programme has been disrupted by their progression to the FA Trophy quarter-final - they head to Macclesfield tonight for a replay to decide who faces Tranmere Rovers in the next round.
At Worthing, Ibra Sekajja had an effort cleared off the line early on and Nathan Green headed over from inside the six-yard box.
The game was scoreless at the interval but Akinyemi struck the vital goal less than a minute after the restart.
Sekajja had a string of scoring opportunities, and on the hour, he was set clear but took the bal lwide when rounding home keeper Kieran Thorp and a defender blocked. Marc Weatherstone was also left frustrated as his 74th minute header was cleared off the line.

The 'Southwark News' reported our loss up in Cheshire, two days later, on Thursday 9th March:

Hamlet's historic run ends

Dulwich Hamlet's superb Buildbase FA Trophy came to an end on Tuesday night after a 2-0 defeat at National League Macclesfield Town.
Hamlet were trying to reach the last four for the first time and their 2-2 draw with a side two divisions above them had given them the belief they could match their opponents.
But two first-half goals in two minutes from Rhys Browne awnt the Silkmen into the last four to the disappointment of 144 travelling fans.
At the wekend, meanwhile, Dipo Akinyemi struck the only goal of the game to give Hamlet a crucial 1-0 win at Worthing.
Akinyemi returned to Gavin Rose's side with Kenny Beaney suspended, and he fired home in the 46th minute to keep Hamlet's play-off challenge on track.
Worthing were set up to defend, but had the ball in the net in the first half through Luois Clark, only for the linesman's flag to rule it out.
Hamlet's Ibra Sekajja saw an effort cleared off the line as the away side began to dominate.
Having missed a host of chances before the break, it took just a minute of the second half for Hamlet to take the lead, Ashley Carew crossing from the left before Gavin Tomlin sent the ball into the path Akinyemi who finished.
Hamlet goalkeeper Preston Edwards was tested late on, but he easily held on to a free-kick as Rose's side comfortably claimed three points.
The result leaves Hamlet eighth in the Isthmian League Premier division table, but they have games in hand on six of the seven sides above them.

And so to the next day, the weekend edition of the 'South London Press', which looked to the rest of the season, after our loss up at Macclesfield:

Hamlet boss mulls deals after bowing out of FA Trophy

Dulwich Hamlet saw their FA Trophy run come to an end on Tuesday night – with boss Gavin Rose still weighing up if they need new faces for the promotion run-in.
Rhys Browne’s brace in the opening 20 minutes saw Macclesfield progress to the semi-final of the FA Trophy, where they will face fellow Vanarama National side Tranmere Rovers over two legs.
Hamlet’s focus will now shift firmly back onto their Ryman League Premier Division campaign, they are nine points adrift of the play-offs but have five games in hand.
“We exceeded everyone’s expectations in the trophy,” said Rose. “We beat Whitehawk and then took two Conference National teams to replays, which is no mean feat. We’d played some really decent opposition before that. It’s a great achievement.”
Dulwich had trailed 2-0 early on to Macclesfield in the first tie but managed to turn that deficit around to force a replay.
“We started slowly again this time but were unable to recover. We didn’t get close enough to them and impose ourselves until we went 2-0 down. If the boys had the chance again I’m sure their approach would be slightly different. We still had a few chances to bring the scoreline back, but Tuesday wasn’t our day. The main thing has always been the league. Those teams above us have already got the points – and that is the hardest thing to get. At least it gives us the opportunity to see if we can eat up that gap.”
Dulwich have an injury doubt over former Crystal Palace centre-back Michael Chambers.
“He had a little knock and came back to play on Tuesday but then twisted his ankle. He finished the game but we don’t know how severe that will be going into this weekend. One or two may be sore because of their efforts in midweek. We’ll know more at the start of the weekend.”
Dulwich are still able to make signings until the end of March.
And Rose is not ruling out that he might add players as Hamlet look to make up ground with a congested fixture schedule.
“I’m going to have a meeting with my management team after this weekend – probably Monday,” said Rose. “We’ll look and see where we could have issues or need an extra body. If we can do that we will try and act on it. We won’t just do it for the sake of it. There is always a budget requirement restriction that we have to adhere to.”
Dulwich made £7,000 from winning their third round trophy tie and making the last eight.

Last Sunday the 'Non League Paper' covered our thumping of Merstham:

Gavin Tomlin netted twice as Dulwich went nap against lowlt Merstham to enhance their play-off chances.
Hamlet attacked from the outset and visiting keeper Josh Smith was under continual pressure.
They took the lead in the tenth minute when Nathan Green fired in Sanchez Ming's cross from close range.
Tom Kavanagh fired wide in a rare Merstham attack but Dulwich continued their domination.
And they doubled their lead on 24 minutes when Smith parried Ming's lows corss but gave Tomlin the simplest of tap-ins.
Eleven minutes later Tmlin scored again, this time direct from a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner.
Alex Addai missed a chance to reduce the arrears just before half-time, curling his shotwide with only Hamlet keeper Preston Edwards to beat.
Tomlin was denied a hat-trick after the interval when an offside Dipo Akinyemi tocuhed his goalbound shot.
But Akinyemi soon made amends when the referee's assistant ruled his header from Tomlin's centre had crossed the line despite Smiths' best efforts to keep it out.
Dulwich saved their best for last, sub Panutche Camara's superb turn and finish rounding off a neat passing move for his first-ever Hamlet goal.

On Tuesday the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' had a very brief non-league column, with our mention as follows:

Dulwich Hamlet bounced back from their exit from the FA Trophy to thrash Merstham in front of a 1,564 crowd at Champion Hill.
Gavin Tomlin nettedtwice with Nathan Green, Dipo Akinyemi and Panutche Camara also on the scoresheet.
Dulwich led 3-0 by half-time, with Green opening the scoring just 10 minutes in from a Tomlin pass.
Green was fouled for Tomlin, who had chested home moments earlier, to convert from the spot. Tomlin set up Akinyemi to head in before Beaney laid on camara's first goal for the club.

This was followed by the 'Southwark News' last Thursday, who coverage led with our unique intiative to 'rest' our famous Pink & Blue kit, for the colours of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY:

Purple reign
Out of cup, but Hamlet turn on style to mark International Women's Day

Dulwich Hamlet tumbled at the penultimate stage in their attempt to reach the final of the Alan Turvey Trophy on Tuesday night.
Alex Akrofi put Tonbridge Angels ahead in the ninth minute before Kenny Beaney levelled with a free-kick for his side.
A much-changed Hamlet were dominating but there was controversy in the 31st minute when Dumebi Dumaka was through on goal before being hauled down by Liam Smith. The referee gave the penalty but failed to send off Smith, who had denied Dumaka a clear goal-scoring opportunity. To compound that, Ibra Sekajja had his spot-kick saved by Jonathan Henley.
There was another hint of controversy before the home side went back in front five minutes after the break. Hamlet were on the counterattack when the referee stopped the game to allow attention for Akrofi, who went down after a clash with goalkeeper Preston Edwards. From the drop-ball, the recovered Akrofi crossed to former Brentford striker Nathan Elder to nod home.
Gavin Rose's side again felt hard-done by as they searched for another equaliser when dumaka appeared to be shoved to the ground in the penalty box.
Tonbridge sealed their place in the final with fourteen minutes left, Akrofi prodding past Edwards for his second.
It was a better afternoon at the weekend for the Dulwich side, who wore sepcial one-off purple kits at Champion Hill to celebrate International Women's Day.
And they turned on the style on the pitch as well, cruising past Merstham 5-0 in their Isthmian Premier Division clash.
Away keeper Josh Smith made a number of early saves before Hamlet took an inevitable lead when Gavin Tomlin set up Nathan Green for a tap-in.
Tomlin doubled the lead in the 24th minute and ten minutes before half-time it was three,Tomlin curling home a brilliant free-kick after Green had been fouled.
Hamlet refused to let up, and Tomlin turned provider with still less than an hour played as Dipo Akinyemi's header crossed the line despite the efforts of Smith.
That all set up arguably the goal of the game. Hamlet swiftly moved the ball from right to left. Beaney and Green then exchanged passes before substitute Panutche Camara sublimely turned in the box and shot past Smith for his first goal for the club.
It was a fitting finish to a celebratory afternoon. Afterwards, Alex Atack, Dulwich Hamlet Supporter's Trust vice-chair, said: "The International Women's Day celebrations at Champion Hill on Saturday were fantastic. The kit looked great and the fans really seemed to get behind it with a number of them wearing their own alternative purple shirts. What's more, the team achieved a comfortable 5-0 win to continue our push up the league."

And, finally to Friday's 'South London Press' coverage, just a couple of days ago:

Hamlet's fixture blitz will be the key

Dulwich Hamlet are facing four games in eight days which are set to hugely shape their Ryman League Premier division play-off hopes.
Gavin Rose's side start with a trip to Tonbridge Angels tomorrow before home games against Kingstonian and Havant & Waterlooville on Monday and Wednesday respectively. Billericay follow at Champion Hill next Saturday.
Dulwich saw at least some fixture conjestion eased as they bowed out of the Alan Turvey Trophy at the semi-final stage, losing 3-1 at Tonbridge in midweek.
Alexander Akrofi put the hosts ahead on nine minutes. Kenny Beaney levelled things up with a free-kick after Ibra Sekajja was fouled before the half-hour mark.
Liam Smith was lucky to only see yellow for dragging down Dumebi Dumaka in the penalty area but Sekajja's spot-kick was saved by Jonathan Henly.
A contested drop-ball ended with Nathan Elder restoring Angels advantage on 52 minutes. Akrofi got his second of the evening with 14 minutes remaining.
