The local Hamlet news round-up

The local Hamlet news round-up

Here's the last week in print

A week ago the 'Non League Paper' covered our superb four nil victory over Leatherhead at Champion Hill:

Muhammadu Faal netted twice as Hamlet produced a clinical display to defeat a Leatherhead side who contributed significantly to an entertaining contest.
Hamlet keeper Preston Edwards, made an excellent save from Jack Midson, before the hosts led on four minutes.
Dumebi Dumaka nodded the ball on for Faal who hammered an unstoppable shot past Tanners keeper Zac Oualah.
Dulwich doubled their lead on 23 minutes when Nyren Clunis robbed a Leatherhead defender on the edge of the penalty box and unselfishly squared for skipper Kenny Beaney to slide the ball home.
The Tanners were denied by Ashley Carew's goal-line clearance and Dan Gallagher wasted a chance, while Faal squandered a clear Hamlet opening.
Leatherhead's Sean Clohessy struck the post on 40 minutes and Dulwich broke a minute later to make it 3-0, Faal converting Michael Chambers' cross.
Clunis made it 4-0 on 52 minutes, sweeping home Dumaka's cross after a flowing move.
Four-nil was hard on Leatherhead, but Dumaka missed a gilt-edged chance and hit the woodwork late on.
STAR MAN: Kenny Beaney (Dulwich Hamlet)
ENTERTAINMENT: ***** (maximum 5 our of a possible five stars)

Our exciting young striker grabbed the headline in the small non-league column, in Tuesday's midweek 'South London Press':

Faal nets brace as Hamlet win

Dulwich Hamlet moved to seventh in the Bostik League Premier Division with a 4-0 win over Leatherhead.
Muhammadu Faal scored twice for the South Londoners as they ran out emphatic victors at Champion Hill. Captain Kenny Beaney and Nyren Clunis were also on target for Hamlet in front of a bumper crowd of 1,752.

Thursday's weekly 'Southwark News' saw our lone scorer from Tuesday's victory at Earlsmead bag the headline:

Carew cuts down Harrow

Ashley Carew struck a brilliant free-kick nine minutes from time to give Dulwich Hamlet their second win in four days to see them rise to fifth place in the Isthmian League Premier Division table.
Hamlet were under pressure for much of the game at Harrow, though the visitors were always dangerous on the break.
In the fourteenth minute, Carew combined with Nyren Clunis to set up a chance for Muhammadu Faal, but he shot over the bar. Marc Weatherstone then headed Carew's corner off target, before Quade Taylor crossed for Dumebi Dumaka who nodded wide. Gavin Rose's side had a close escape just after the break when stopper Preston Edwards was beaten by a deflected shot but the ball hit the post before Dulwich cleared.
Just when it seemed they would have to settle for a point, Nana Boakye-Yiadom was fouled and Carew stepped up to curl a free-kick over the wall. Harrow poured forward late on, and were almost caught on the break but Nathan Ferguson couldn't finish after racing clear from halfway.
Last weekend 1,752 fans at Champion Hill saw Hamlet hammer Leatherhead 4-0 with two goals from Faal and one each from Clunis and Kenny Beaney.
Hamlet are four points off big-spending Billericay in top spot ahead of an away clash with Worthing on Saturday afternoon.

Finally, to Friday's weekend 'South London Press', and it's our free-kick man in the news again...

Hot Ash hits late winner

Ashley Carew scored his third goal of the campaign as Dulwich Hamlet won 1-0 at Harrow Borough on Tuesday night.
It took until the 81st minute for the breakthrough to come. Nana Baokye-Yiadom was fouled and Carew stepped up to curl past goalkeeper Melvin Minter.
Hamlet's fifth victory in the Bostik League Premier Division lifted them into the play-off places and they have recorded back-to-back clean sheets.
They have a chance to strengthen their grip on a top-five slot when they head to winless and rock-bottom Worthing on Saturday.
