This Afternoon’s Match Preview - Hayes and Yeading (Away) KO 1pm
The build up to the new season comes to a close with a trip to National League South side, Hayes and Yeading.
It's been something of a mixed preseason for our opponents today who have not have the most consistent of warm ups ahead of the start of competition proper a week today. Their busy schedule of games has seen them beaten by the likes of Bedfont & Feltham, Slough Town, Beaconsfield SYCOB and, in their heaviest reverse of all, 4-0 by Dulwich’s fellow Ryman Premier side Grays Athletic.
However the HandY fans could be easily forgiven their worries ahead of the new season given some of the problems that have dogged their club in recent years, the ground shares with the likes of Woking and Maidenhead whilst their Beaconsfield Road home is brought up to standard, on and off field upheavals and more. Yet still there is optimism around the club with the new ground at Yeading’s old home steadily nearing completion and the team battling against the odds to retain their National League (Conference) South status at the end of last season, finishing just shy of the last relegation spot.
Manager Tristan Lewis has worked hard with limited resources to assemble his squad and, though the coming season, might be viewed with some trepidation, hopes remain high that the club will soon be back on firmer ground.
Don’t forget it's an early kickoff for this game, 1 o’clock, with the game taking place on Hayes and Yeading’s 3G pitch on Beaconsfield Road. Directions to the ground can be found here.
Admission for this game is £3 for adults with Under 16s free.
