Time for our weekly local paper round ups

The latest in the past week from the 'Southwark News' & 'South London Press'

First up was Tuesday's midweek edition of the 'South London Press',which focussed on Harry Ottoway's injury:

Ottoway could miss four months

Dulwich Hamlet striker Harry Ottoway suffered a broken leg in Saturday's 3-1 win over Carshalton. The forward, who has one goal this season, is likely to be out of action for up to four months. Manager Gavin Rose said: "Harry is in good spirits but it is a shame for him because he started the season so well and is a good lad."
Hamlet had opened brightly and it was no surprise when Dean Lodge gave them a 15th-minute lead. But a dominant first half was marred when Ottaway had to be carried off after a collision with the visiting keeper. Dulwich doubled their lead at the start of the second half as a Kevin James free-kick found an unmarked Mathieu Boyer, who converted at the far post. However, a rare mistake by keeper Phil Wilson offered Carshalton a way back into the game as he allowed a speculative Tommy Bradford shot to squirm under his body on what was, by now, a very slippery surface. This gave the vistors hope but it was extinguished by Erhun Oztumer, who hit his second goal of the campaign with two minutes remaining. Hamlet, one of siz sides in the division who were yet to taste defeat in the Ryman League Premier division after Saturday, were due to play at Grays Athletic, managed by David Beckham's former Brimsdown Rovers team-mate Ryan Kirby.

On Thursday, in the weekly 'Southwark News', the broken leg from last Saturday headlined:

Ottoway blow for Hamlet

A broken leg picked up by striker Harry Ottoway took the shine off another good weekend for Dulwich who are still undefeated after six Ryman Premier League games.
Hamlet sit in second spot behind leaders Kingstonian, having picked up a win and a draw over the Bank Holiday weekend.
However the long-term injury to Ottaway, who has bagged three goals already this campaign, means Hamlet will have to find a new option up front.
Speaking to the club website manager Gavin Rose said: "I've been to see him in hospital, and he is in good spirits. He realised straight away how serious it was, and when I saw him the first question on his lips was how long he would be out for. It's a great shame for him,as he has started so well, and is a good lad. But that's not important at the moment, my first concern is that he gets through whatever operation he needs, then rehabilitation."
The injury occured during the 3-1 win over Carshalton Athletic on Saturday. Hamlet cruised to a win thanks to goals from Dean Lodge, Nathieu Boyer and Erhun Oztumer with Tommy Bradford responding for the visitors. On Bank Holiday Monday Dulwich picked up another point on their travels against Grays Athleti, who like Dulwich have started the season well. The two sides cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw which leaves Hamlet in second place in the league and Grays a spot behind them. Dulwich are back in action at Champion Hill this Saturday, taking on AFC Hornchurch in a 3pm kick off.

Yesterday's weekend edition of the 'South London Press' focussed on the departure of Paul Vines:

Frustrated Vines asks to leave Hamlet

Paul Vines has chosen to leave Dulwich Hamlet after failing to get fit enough to play at his peak.
And Champion Hill boss Gavin Rose is set to add a striker to his books after also seeing Harry Ottoway ruled out for at least four months with a broken leg suffered in the 3-1 win over Carshalton Athletic on Saturday. But it's former Tooting & Mitcham hotshot Vines who appraoched the Ryman Premier Division outfit asking to be released.
rose said; "I've known Paul many years-he is a mate-but he feels he has not done himself justice and has asked to go. He just needs to get himself fit and in proper shape. We wanted to give him as long as we possibly could. He came into pre-season a little bit overweight but normally works that off. This time it has taken a little bit longer for him to get rid of it, which means he has always been playing catch-up. Unfortunately it got to the point where he got frustrated with himself. I respect him for being that honest-it shows what kind of character he is. Harry's injury is a shame. The boy had started really well for us and it was just an unfortunate collision. The club will support him all the way through his period of recovery."
Dulwich do still have two strikers still on their books but Rose was due to run the rule over at least one potential frontline signing in a reserve game last night. Former Manchester City youngster Ian Daly-capped by the Republic of Ireland at U21 level-joined from Bromley in the summer and Junior James is another option.
"We've just signed Ian and haven't seen him play competitively," explained Rose. "He went back to play in Ireland after City released him but then has been back over here for the past 18 months. He's found it difficult to get started again. He probably envisaged it being easier than it was. Junior is someone who needs to go out and play and our plan is for him to go out on loan."
Highly touted midfielder Xavier Vidal and Jerome Walker-both missing with injuries in recent weeks-were expected to also play last night. But winger Nyren Clunis and Mathieu Boyer are doubts for tomorrow's home game against Hornchurch after suffering knocks in Monday's 0-0 draw at Grays.
"We took Nyren off as a precaution because he rolled his ankle and then received a few kicks on it," said Rose. "With how many forwards and wide players we have out we thought it was best to take him off and give him a chance to recover. Mathieu got an elbow to the head and felt dizzy. we were worried about a concussion. But once he came off he felt a lot better."
