'Video killed the radio star' they said
But the internet hasn't killed the fanzine!
Football fanzines were a staple 'must have' for many supporters in the eighties and beyond, even though many never had any actual staples in them!
In most cases the independent voice of football fans, expressing their views, loves & hates on all things about their team, football in general & beyond. Often amateurish, but keen as mustard, they tended to fade away with the advent of internet messageboards & football blogs...even podcasts.
But if you pine for the 'good old days' way before modern technology...pine no more.
For the Dulwich Hamlet fanzine is back tomorrow.
Two of our fans, Louis & Josie, have been hard at work over the pre-season to produce the first ever edition of their new fanzine 'THE MORAL VICTORY' which will be on sale at the Harrow Borough game.
It's a twenty page effort, and will only cost a pound.
I asked them why exactly they thought the time was ripe for a Dulwich Hamlet fanzine and they told me:
"Firstly because we knew it would loook good! We have a risograph printer with blue ink and pink paper and thought it was crying out to be made into a pink n blue publication (we drew inspiration for the look from 60s programmes we had seen)," they explained.
"We also wanted to make something physical that could embody the creativity of DHFCs fanbase..! There is a lot of good stuff published and talked about online but not everyone necessarily looks at that and a fanzine can be passed around or kept as a memento;" before finishing:
"We want it to be a joint effort so we want to hear from people with any ideas or content for future issues."
