Wanadio Returns For Third Spell
Winger back at Champion Hill following spells in 14-15 and 18-19
A familiar face has returned to the Hamlet in the form of winger Luke Wanadio.
The winger, 30, has had two previous spells with the Hamlet, and becomes Hakan Hayrettin's 13th summer signing after spending last season with Dover Athletic.
Luke first joined us in December 2014 as a 22-year-old during our previous stint in the Isthmian League Premier Division, making his debut in a 1-0 win over Witham Town, and went on to play 21 times in the remainder of the campaign, scoring once against Billericay Town in January 2015.
Almost four years later, Luke returned for a second time during our debut season at Step 2, scoring a crucial winner against Truro City in the fourth of his nine games of that spell.
Since leaving Champion Hill that summer, Luke's career has taken him to two spells at Dartford, with a short spell with Billericay Town sandwiched in between. Last season, he netted ten times in 43 National League South appearances, including a brace in a crucial win at Braintree Town in April as Dover survived at the expense of the Hamlet on the final day of the season.
"It's good to be back!" said Luke. "It's great to be somewhere I know well and with a few players that I know really well, it's a great feeling! It's a club with a massive fanbase and a stadium that's great to play in."
"I've had some brilliant memories here, I've had chants from the fans, scored important goals and set up some important ones too."
"The coaches show great ambition and their drive to want to win the league and return to the National League South is something that drew me back to the club."
"I feel I'm very experienced now and I've never won anything, so to play for Hak and Terry and be a part of a changing room that only has one thing on its mind in promotion was such a draw."
"I'm hoping to bring some of my experience and that flair that brings something to the side, whether that be goals or assists, or something a bit different that can help the side to go up again. Getting older, I don't think I've lost that yard of pace but I think I'm more intelligent on the pitch and know where to be in the box and when to make those runs."
"After being top scorer last year, I hope that I can add goals to the front line that already has Millsy, Cliff and AJ."
"I've come across Luke many times in the last few years and he has hurt our sides in that time!" added Terry Harris.
"He had an excellent season at Dover last year, playing pretty much all their games and top scored in the league with ten goals."
"He gives you a great presence on the wing and around the park, and also off it, he's a brilliant character in the dressing room. He has so much pace, and with Anthony Jeffrey as well, there is speed on both flanks, and I'm looking for big things from him."
