Delves Departs
Winger returns to AFC Wimbledon
First team winger Abby Delves has this week returned to parent club AFC Wimbledon due to university commitments.
The 20-year-old joined the Hamlet on a dual-registration deal from the Dons at the beginning of the season, and went on to play ten times for Ryan Dempsey's side, scoring twice and providing a further two assists.
Abby made her debut off the bench in our 2-0 victory over Sutton United in September, before netting her first goal in the following match against New London Lionesses. With the Hamlet being repeatedly frustrated in front of goal, Abby came off the bench to score a sensational equaliser from range as the game ended 1-1.
Her first start came in the FA Cup demolition of Tunbridge Wells Foresters, where she earned the Player of the Match award, setting up Lucy Monkman for our third goal that afternoon before scoring the fourth herself.
Indeed her performances in October led to he being voted Player of the Month by the fans, with another assist coming during the 3-0 success over Winchester City Flyers.
Abby's final appearance for the Hamlet came in our 3-0 loss at Fulham in December, in which she was forced off with signs of concussion, something she has unfortunately suffered from in the past with the Dons.
Thank you for everything you have contributed during your time with us Abby, forever part of the Pepper Army, and we wish you the very best of luck back with Wimbledon and for the future.
