In the local press this week

Here's the round up from our local newspapers over the last few days

On Tuesday the midweek edition of the 'South London Press' concentrated with our draw at Imber Court last Saturday:

Hamlet can't unlock Met Police as their perfect start is ended

Dulwich Hamlet were unable to maintain their 100 per cent start to life in the Ryman Premier Division as they drew 0-0 with the Metropolitan Police on Saturday.
But the South Londoners, who dominated for lengthy periods of the match, still have seven points from a possible nine and sit fourth in the table. The best chance for Hamlet came in the second half when Dean Lodge sliced wide from a promising position. Erhun Oztumer appeared to be pushed in the box but penalty appeals were waved away while Nyren Clunis failed to convert two late opportunities. Hamlet are at home to Cray Wanderers tonight.

Yesterday, in the 'Southwark News' also covered that match:

Hamlet pick up point from Police

Dulwich will be disappointed that their finishing couldn't match their dominance as they spurned a nubmer of chances to win against Met Police, especially late on.
From the start Dulwich kept their opponents at arms length and keeper Phil Wilson was not called into serious action in the first half.
Kevin James and Billy Crook were in charge of midfield and provided the platform for Dulwich to get the ball wide at regular intervals.
However, other than a few crosses, a couple of Harry Ottaway headers and a free kick from Erhun Oztumer that was comfortably saved, there was a lack of clear chances.
The second half opened more evenly but Dulwich should have taken the lead when Dean Lodge was set free inside the box but rushed his shot and sliced wide.
The Met were seeing more of the ball around the Dulwich box but Wilson was well protected by his defence and not called upon to make a save.
However he would eventually be called into action as a long ball over the top left him exposed but the stopper was able to get a hand to the ball to snuff out any danger.
A Kevin James free kick flew just over soon after whilst substitute Nyren Clunis could not find the necessary finish when presented with two good late chances.
Hamlet got back to winning ways two nights ago when they dispatched Cray Wanderers at Champion Hill.
Erhun Oztumer bagged two goals on the night for the Hamlet with Ellis Green and Harry Ottaway also netting in a 4-0 victory.

The 'Southwark News' also ran a big piece on Gavin's thoughts on the first few games of our season:

Good Hamlet start not a surprise to manager Rose

Hamlet manager Gavin Rose is not getting carried away with Dulwich's good start to their campaign, but admitted he is not surprised his side have taken to the Ryman Premier League life so well.
In their first three games since promotion, in which the Pink and Blue's have picked up seven points from nine on offer, Hamlet have continued the good form that saw them take the Ryman South title last campaign.
It is that habit of picking up regular wins that Rose believes is key to his team's excellent start playing teams at a higher level.
Speaking before the Cray game on Tuesday night he told the News: "We have seven points from nine and that is a good start. The boys have had a good attitude, worked really hard for each other and have taken on board what we wanted. We kept most of the team from last season and they have a mentality of winning games. You often find that with a promoted team they just carry on as they are used to winning. We have had that mentality for the last eighteen months or more so it has not been a massive surprise we have carried that on."
As always Rose is keeping the lid on things as he expects games to get tougher in the 46 game league campaign.
The Hamlet gaffer added: "We are not getting carried away and it won't be unitl October to November until we know we are consistent. Teams are still ironing things out and by then you will have a sense of where everybody is. We will get to that point and then we will see if we have to make any adjustments."
Rose believes the increased size of the Dulwich squad has helped cope with early season injury problems.
Last weekend Nyren Clunis made a substitute appearance having recovered from his injury, but now Jerome Walker is expected to sit out the action as he picked up a knock.
Midfielder Xavier Vidal is still a week away from first team action but Rose believes he will be able to cope.
He said: "We are happy with the size of the squad. We have 20 plus players now and players have come in with our injuries and played to that same level, it has meant we have not noticed the injuries as much. That's what we want, we were too threadbare last season and it's good to have players knowing they can come in and perform."

This morning the 'South London Press' was back on their newsstands, with their midweek edition, and they led with the Cray game:

Hamlet hit four but Rose still frustrated

Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose saw his side win 4-0 against Cray Wanderers on Tuesday but was still not satisfied.
The South Londoners are unbeaten since promotion to the Ryman Premier Division and lie second in the table. Erhun Oztumer scored twice for Hamlet with Ellis Green and Harry Ottoway also chipping in.
Rose said: "It was pretty a comfortable victory in terms of the result but the performance was quite average. We didn't really hit our top level and that was a little bit frustrating. But of course we'd have taken this start to the season if someone had told us before a ball had been kicked. We've maybe caught one or two teams by surprise and I'd imagine we'll get more respect now and we'll find games much tougher. It has been good because we have played with no fear. Sometimes you need a little bit of luck and in the first game against Lowestoft we were very nervy in the first 20 minutes. We rode our luck a little bit but once we did that we woke up and clicked into gear. Little things like that make the difference-that we didn't get punished in that first quarter of the game. It made us realise we might be at a higher level but it is still just a game of football."
Rose picked out Lewis Gonsalves, goalkeeper Phil Wilson and Oztumer for special praise. "Lewis has been with us a long time but still seems to improve," said the Champion Hill boss. "That will have surprised a few in non-league because he has been in the Conference South and many people thought he was on the way down when he joined us. He's shown he can play at this level. He's a good influence. Phil has been very, very good. He has talked well and organised things. It's hard to ignore Erhun. Those three in particular have done really well."
Dulwich are at home to Carshalton tomorrow but will be without Green, who is facing three weeks out with medial knee damage. Jerome Walker (hamstring) will also miss out.
