Jodie Lodge signs ahead of the 25/26 season
We are delighted to announce that defensive stalwart Jodie Lodge has committed to another year in pink & blue and will represent the Hamlet in our 2nd season in the FAWNL.
Jodie a regular in our title winning side took step 4 by storm with a number of impressive performances in the league and cup in a season that saw us reach the final of the Capital Women's Cup.
On re signing for the Hamlet Jodie had this to say: "Dulwich feels like a home to me now and I couldn’t be happier to be re-signing for the upcoming season. Update on the investigation into our abandoned L&SERWFL Trophy Final
Joint statement from Ben Clasper (Chair of Dulwich Hamlet FC) and Dulwich Hamlet Supporters’ Trust.
On 25th May, the L&SERWFL Trophy final between Dulwich Hamlet Women Reserves and Clapton Community FC was abandoned shortly into the first half of the game.
The FA have now confirmed that no charges will be brought against Dulwich Hamlet FC or its fans for the abandoned final, and that flags and banners were not displayed by our supporters in a way that “would incite any violence or aggravation” but were displayed "in solidary and support”.
We’re glad the FA have reached this decision, which corresponds with both our understanding of what happened during this game and our understanding of the rules and regulations of the game and the competition which we always encourage our supporters to honour.
We remain deeply disappointed that this was allowed to happen, and that both teams were robbed of a chance to contest L&SERWFL Trophy final.
We hope the FA will be holding the individuals responsible for the abandonment accountable, and we look forward to seeing what action will be taken to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Maria Tavares appointed as new women's 1st team manager
We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Maria Tavares as the manager for our women’s first team with Leikam Ching also joining as assistant manager.
This decision follows a thorough and deliberate process, during which we were fortunate to engage with an exceptionally strong pool of candidates, both through direct interest and strategic outreach.
In preparation for this appointment, we developed a clear strategy and selection criteria to guide our targeting and ensure we remained anchored in our long-term goals. Our vision for the upcoming season is to invest deeply in the talented core we already have, strengthen key areas, and prioritise development to compete at the highest level.
Maria joins Dulwich Hamlet for the 2025 26 season coming from Arsenal Women’s Academy and after playing semi-professional in her time as a player, Maria is aiming to bring to the club a new spark and fresh ideas. Prior to her time at Arsenal, she held head coaching roles at SOAS university of London and at Stonewall FC where she added trophies to both club’s cabinets.
From Maria: "Stepping into this role, I bring nothing but belief and energy. I know the club stands for integrity, love, and respect, values I hold close and that’s why we’re not just aiming to compete, we’re here to inspire, to push limits, and to make this club a force everyone respects. The journey starts now, and I’m excited to take it with the team and fans alike."
Leikam also joins Dulwich Hamlet from Arsenal Women’s Academy where he coached international tournaments and the FA Youth Cup supporting players progressing into national teams along the way. Prior to his time at Arsenal, he held coaching roles at Fulham and Chelmsford City. Leikam brings an international perspective with his coaching style, influenced by his time as a player in the US and Peru.
From Leikam: "I'm excited to join Dulwich Hamlet Women FC and support a club that champions community and the growth of women’s football. I’m proud to be at the Hamlet and look forward to meeting the team.”
Director Brit Saylor, who has led the initiative had this to say:
“Maria and Leikam bring with them experience from the Arsenal academy, alongside the energy, professionalism, and passion for our club that we believe will elevate what’s already been built. We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to all the candidates who engaged with us throughout this process.
We’re incredibly excited about this next phase for Dulwich Hamlet Women, and we can’t wait to see where Maria and Leikam lead us. Join us on the Hill in giving them the warmest of welcomes.”
