MATCH PREVIEW | Dulwich Hamlet vs Chesham United | 23/08/25
Maria Tavares and the Hamlet Women finally return to South London on Sunday afternoon for their 2nd game of the FAWNL league season.
Chesham United are the visitors to South London who come into this one after a difficult start. On the opening day of the season they suffered a 4-0 defeat to London Bees. On Thursday night it was a difficult start to their FAWNL Cup campaign as they lost 7-1 to QPR in the 1st of 3 group games.
Last week the Hamlet headed to one of the divisions newbies. Luton Town were the hosts on an opening day the Hatters will remember. They sailed to a 3 goal lead before the Hamlet scored a consolation in the dying moments.
On Thursday night it was a different story and despite falling behind in the early stages a resilient Hamlet side began their FAWNL campaign with 3 points. A Jessica Francis Weir brace in the 2nd half meant the Hamlet left North London with a win much to the delight of new manager Maria Tavares and her management team.
SQUAD NEWS:
The Hamlet were given a major boost on Thursday night as Saskia Reeves-Priestley return to action. The goalkeeper pulled off a number of valuable saves to keep the Hamlet ahead and pick up their 1st win of the season. Tia Searle faces a period on the sidelines after she picked up a knee injury in the closing stages of the 1st half on Thursday night.

MATCH PREVIEW | London Bees vs Dulwich Hamlet | FAWNL Cup | Thursday
Our FAWNL Cup campaign begins on Thursday night as we visit London Bees in the 1st of 3 group stage matches.
The Hamlet have been drawn in a group with London Bees, Crystal Palace and Hashtag United. After this we'll welcome Hashtag United and Crystal Palace to Champion Hill in September to finish off the group stages.
London Bees began their FAWNL campaign in great form with a 4-0 win over Chesham United on Sunday afternoon in a dominant display they were one of 5 games in the South East division to have 4 or more goals.
The Hamlet however, were on the end of a difficult to defeat to one of the divisions new sides. Luton Town hit the ground running with a 3-1 victory. The Hamlet missed a penalty just before half-time which would have seen the sides go in with the score 2-1. Luton would all but confirm 3 points as they made it 3 early on in the 2nd half before the Hamlet got a consolation in stoppage time.
Maria Tavares will be looking for an improved performance from her side if they're to begin the group stages of the competition in winning ways.
