Hamlet Injury Crisis Forces Cup Match Concession
Dulwich Hamlet FC can today regrettably confirm it is unable to fulfil its FA Womens’ National League Cup fixture away at Lewes on Sunday [November 9].
The club made the challenging decision to withdraw from the FAWNL League Cup given an injury crisis that left it unable to field a match-day squad.
At the conclusion of this week’s game against AFC Portchester [November 5] we had fewer than 11 fit players on the pitch.
Since then, a further two players have succumbed to injury. Consequently, we do not have 11 fit players available for the fixture, let alone a match-day squad.
The club recognises this is a huge disappointment not just for our dedicated fans who were looking forward to an exciting fixture but also the players and the whole club.
We have always appreciated the way Lewes runs its match days and they are amazing hosts to our team and our fans. We are hugely disappointed that we have to take this step and disappoint the club and its fans.
It was not a decision that was taken lightly.
The club has worked hard since Wednesday night to do everything possible to fulfil the fixture. But the priority will always be the wellbeing of our players. It would be a clear failure of the club’s duty of care if it asked players to perform when not fit.
We understand that many fans may have already incurred costs relating to this fixture and so please contact the club if you are in that situation.
This has been a competition that has delivered some momentous wins and been a great advert for women’s football. Everyone at the club is deeply saddened that we are not able to fulfil this fixture.

Plan your Sunday as we host Milton Keynes Dons at Champion Hill
This Sunday we host Milton Keynes Dons in a match not to be missed in the FAWNL.
Maria Tavares and her side will be looking to bounce back from 2 disappointing defeats. Last Sunday the Hamlet exited the FA Cup to Swindon Town at the County Ground. Despite a spirited showing in Wiltshire the Hamlet couldn't find a route back into the match.
Wednesday night was one to forget as Chatham Townd defeated the Hamlet 6-0.
MK Dons have picked up in recent weeks with victories over Chesham United in the County Cup and a draw with Cambridge United in the league.
The Dons only victory came in West London as the defeated Actonians in September. A victory for them at Champion Hill on Sunday will see them leap frog the Hamlet into 9th.
A Hamlet victory however, will see them put some space between them and the relegation zone and can potentially move 8 points clear of the drop zone with a win.
It's a massive afternoon of FAWNL football and we'll need you behind us from the 1st minute until the very last. Our turnstiles open at 13:00 and you can get your tickets from the link below:

MATCH PREVIEW | Chatham Town vs Dulwich Hamlet | 29/10/25
The Hamlet and Chatham meet for the 2nd time in 2 weeks tonight, this time however in the FAWNL in Kent.
These 2 sides met just 10 days ago on a wet Sunday at Champion Hill in the 1st knock-out round of the FAWNL League Cup. A Jessica Francis Weir strike was the difference that day as the Hamlet advanced to the next round being rewarded with a trip to tier 3 Lewes on Sunday November 9th.
Maria Tavares and her side exited the Adobe Women's FA Cup on Sunday against Swindon Town at the County Ground.
The Robins took a 1st half lead scoring from a corner and despite going down to 10 men with 30 minutes of the 2nd half left they held onto a victory and advanced to the 2nd round of the competition.
Chatham also had an away game in the 1st round as they took on AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane. The Chats would cause a cup upset as they knocked out the Dons on penalties. Their reward is a trip to Devon to take on another tier 3 side in the shape of Exeter City FC.
SQUAD NEWS:
We'll be without Rhea Gall and Ceylon Hickman in Kent as they recover from injury and illness respectively. Apart from that the Hamlet will be fully fit and available for this match tonight.
